1978 - 2009

            Champion Hiwire Caliente

We have been breeding and raising show dogs since 1978 and they are an important part of our life. In the late 70's and 80's, we had Labradors and Wheaten Terriers, and until 2009, Dalmatians. Our first Wire  came to us from Ric Chashoudian, Ch. Santeric Campaign Promise and she was Winner Bitch from the 6-9 puppy class at Montgomery. At that point, we were "hooked."

From 2002 - 2009, we bred and co-owned many Hiwire dogs with Chip and Sally Lowe.  In addition to our current show dog, the Ginger Wire bitch, Ch. AfterAll Painting The Sky, bred by Al Pertuit and Betty Seaton, we also have two retired champion Standard Poodles from our good friends, Mary and Scott Olund (Cabernet). Our most recent addition in 2010 was another Ginger bitch, AfterAll Benne Calendar Girl.  We hope to show Flirt early in 2013.

Each breed I've had has taught me something new and I loved them all. Today, however, we are dedicated to breeding, raising and showing our Wire Fox Terriers as well as living with and loving Kai and Tabu, our Standard Poodles.  You can see some of the dogs of our past in the links below.

For all the special ones that have shared our lives....

Bella Bella Bella!

Let's hear it for the girls! Bella, bred by Chip Lowe and shared with me through her championship,  has become a wonderful ambassador for the breed. Bella is more than just a pretty face as she and her owner, Lucia, have been successful in rally, obedience and earth dog competition. She has her own page featuring her many performance adventures at Meet Bella! You can still read Lucia's yearly Diaries from a link on the page.

The AfterAll Puppy Play Day!

On October 25th, 2008, Mark and I (with Aimee's help!) hosted a party for all the families who owned an AfterAll wire. Of course, there were many families who live far from Illinois and couldn't attend, but there were about 30 of us there with 15 Wires on a beautiful Fall day. Click on Puppy Play Day to see more photos.  Although we didn't know it at the time, it was to be our last big event in Illinois so it will always be a favorite memory for Mark and me.

Zoe Portrait: a gift from Kris and John Benoit
Zoe Bronze: commissioned from Ric Chashoudian

As teach year ends, we remember all the dogs that came into our lives and left too soon.
There have been many over the years and each one was special in their own way.

Judy (English Cocker), Smartee (Labrador), Dagmar & Wick (Labradors), Bawn, Liffey & Copy (Labradors),
Holly, Busy & Ready (Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers), Deco, Zoe & China (Dalmatians), Justin (Standard Poodle.)

...till we meet again

It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them.
And every new dog who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart.
If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog,
and I will become as generous and loving as they are.
