How To Dremel Nails

Lots of folks ask us about dremeling nails but many are afraid to do it.  I start our puppies with the dremel when they are about four months old. We don't make a big deal about it and we don't spend a lot of time on each nail. The first few times are to let the pup get used to the sound and the vibration. A cordless dremel is quieter and great for starting but I really like the corded one for long term use. I just turn it on low. The best site I've found on the Internet is this one: . Look at the menu on the left and choose "dremeling nails."  It will walk you through the process with pictures and directions. In the end, you'll be glad you did it.

A personal tip is that we run the dremel over the top of the nail down to the tip after shortening the nail up. It helps in getting the quick to stay back a bit.
