Wire Fox Terrier Specialty Shows

Every year there are some specialty shows for Wires across the country. The two most important show weekends for us are the early May Wire Fox Terrier Club of the Central States show in Ohio and the four day October, Montgomery County Shows in PA. There may be as many 60 Wires exhibited at these shows with both regular and sweepstakes classes for the puppies from 6 to 18 months old. It is an honor to receive a ribbon in any of these classes. The sight of top of the top ranked Wire champions is not to be missed.  Both the 2006 Central States and the Montgomery County shows are featured below:

Central States Wire Fox Terrier Specialty
May, 2006

This show is always one of the high points of our year. This was the first year we attended the Central States show in our new camper. We brought all our dogs along including four of the five Judy X Tiger puppies, our Dalmatian, Ready, and Wires, Phoenix and Judy. With five days of rain, we glad to have the camper with us. The puppies spent time playing both inside and outside and had many breeder-visitors. We were very pleased with all the positive comments on the pups and have decided to grow three of them up for awhile at AfterAll.

This show is the time that we are able to see friends from all over the country and that is as much fun as showing the dogs. We shared meals and late nights of "dog talk" with Chip and Sally Lowe from NY, Altha and Clint Graham from PA as well as with some new friends we met there.

We spent lots of time with Chip and Sally who had both Bing and Emmy with them along with their other Wires. Tabby, Bing's sister, and Jackie, the Lowe's Veteran bitch were also shown by Chip. Tabby placed each day in all her classes and Jackie was stunning at 11 1/2 years young as she won the Veteran Bitch class.

We were busy getting four Wires ready each day but I finally found time to shoot some pictures on the last day. Here are some of Bing and Emmy.

"Bing"

Bing winning a CS class!

This is Ch.Hiwire Pinball Wizard, our young dog, "Bing." We were really proud of Bing at the Central States Specialty show in 2006. He was first in his 12-18 month Futurity class, first in his Sweepstakes class and also went Best of Opposite Sex in Sweeps, In addition, Bing won his 12-18 group in the regular dog classes. Bing has some wonderful qualities with his substance and bone, elegant outline and sound movement. He is one of the happiest Wires you will ever meet and loves everyone he meets. He finished his championship in 2006 and is now at stud to approved bitches.

Emmy, whose registered name is Hiwire Intrigue, was just eleven months old at Central States. Emmy, like Bing, won each of her classes by being first in Futurity, Sweeps and in her 9-12 Puppy Bitch class. She is a wonderful combination of elegance, "fire" and fun. While Emmy is delighted to meet people, she is on her toes and ready for anything in the ring. We were so pleased with her wins at Central States as she competed against  many high quality Wires in her classes. Sally Lowe showed Emmy to her Futurity and Sweeps wins and Chip showed her in the regular 9-12 month class.

Emmy finished her championship and is back in Illinois now. We are planning a late 2007 or early 2008 litter. In the meantime, we are enjoying Emmy's outgoing personality. She is one of the most fun Wires we've ever bred.

Montgomery Country 2006 Weekend!

Cal on the table, waiting for Judge Janie Bousek
Cal is handled here by co-breeder, Chip Lowe.

Each October,  Terrier breeders head to PA to compete in four days of shows which culminate in the prestigious Montgomery County all-Terrier show on the final Sunday. Our American Fox Terrier Club's National Specialty show is also held that weekend with Sweepstakes classes showcasing our youngsters as well as regular classes. We had a wonderful time and were very proud of the three Wires we showed. Cal was the only Ginger shown and drew lots of attention.

Cal, Hiwire Caliente, made a wonderful showing as he won each of his four 6-9 month puppy classes as well as his puppy Sweepstakes class. Cal was the only Ginger entered in these shows and he drew lots of attention. We appreciated the many wonderful comments about him from both long-time breeders and handlers. Cal not only is a handsome pup, but he has a great show attitude. We are looking forward to having him back in the ring next spring.

Cal was conditioned and trained for the Montgomery weekend by handler, Dana Bryson, who also shows "Link," BIS/BISS Steele's Link to Terrier Soul.  We sent Dana a puppy and she sent Cal back as a very promising show prospect. You will be seeing more of this team in the future.

Our Emmy, Hiwire Intrigue won either first or second place in each of her classes during the weekend. She is a daughter from our Judy's first litter while Cal and Izzy are from her second.

y Bitch class.

Izzy, Hiwire Charisma, owned by Dana Schumacher, also was a hit as she won either first and second places in each of her classes. Izzy is a littermate to our Cal. We love her style and fun-loving attitude! Dana is doing a great job with her.

Many thanks go to our friends, Altha and Clint Graham, who took pictures of all the Montgomery classes and generously share them through their Webshots Album.
